PETstock partnership finds forever homes for cats and kittens in need

In an expansion of our Adoption Program, The Lost Dogs’ Home is proud to partner with PETstock to help find loving homes for lost and abandoned cats and kittens. Since the partnership began in March this year, 100 cats and kittens have been adopted!

With 13 PETstock stores now acting as satellite adoption centres, we’re branching out into more suburbs and connecting with adopters who may not have otherwise been able to reach our shelters at North Melbourne and Cranbourne.

This partnership will make it possible for more families across Melbourne to experience the joys of adopting a shelter pet. It will also help create vital space at our shelters as we enter kitten season, which – at its peak – sees more than 900 cats and kittens in our care at any given time.

PETstock made a commitment many years ago to be a leader within the pet adoption space. As part of this they offer free of charge space and state-of-the-art, purpose-built condos within their stores for organisations like The Lost Dogs’ Home.

While they’re waiting to be adopted, cats and kittens will enjoy plenty of play and enrichment thanks to PETstock’s team of pet care experts. When it’s time for a rest, cats and kittens can access private areas for some quiet time.

Finding well-matched forever homes for our pets is at the heart of what we do at The Lost Dogs’ Home, and the same philosophy applies to our adoptions through PETstock. Its staff mirror the thorough adoption process in place at our shelters, to ensure all cats and kittens are matched with suitable adopters who are prepared for the ongoing commitment. Pets with complex health or behavioral needs will stay at our shelters for adoption, where our vets and trainers are on-hand for extra support.

With the help of community connections and word-of-mouth, we’re looking forward to seeing many more deserving cats and kittens adopted through PETstock. The initiative is one of many ways we partner with other organisations to achieve a brighter future for pets in need.
