THIS ADOPTION DRIVE HAS ENDED. REDUCED ADOPTION FEES ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE.
We have many wonderful adult cats looking for new homes. But sadly, they’re being constantly overlooked in favour of kittens.
To help these deserving pets find new homes and create critical space at our shelters, we’re launching a special adoption drive.
We’re on a mission to find a home for every cat in our adoptions centre.
This Friday 18 & Saturday 19 February only, adoption fees for adult cats (aged four months and over) are reduced to $25.
At this time of year, it’s not uncommon for an adult cat to spend well over a month waiting to find a home, while kittens are often adopted on the same day they become available.
To help the animals who need it most, we’ve reduced the fee to adopt an adult cat from our North Melbourne or Cranbourne shelter.
We’re hopeful this adoption drive will encourage people who are ready to adopt, to consider an older cat. Even better – we hope to see many of our long-term cats move out of the shelter and into a forever home.
During our special adoption drive, our thorough adoption process still applies to ensure all cats are matched with committed families able to offer a suitable home and meet the animal’s ongoing needs.
Our cats will stay in our adoptions centre for as long as it takes to be adopted, but we’d love for them to find loving forever homes as soon as possible.
Cat adoptions are open for walk-ins. Appointments are not required.
If you’re interested in adopting a cat, come on down and visit our North Melbourne or Cranbourne shelter during adoption hours.
This Saturday only, our Cranbourne shelter is extending its adoption hours to 4:30pm. Adoption hours at our North Melbourne shelter remain the same.
Please understand there may be a wait time. To protect everyone’s safety and ensure physical distancing can be maintained, we are only able to have a limited number of people in the adoptions centre at the same time.
There’s a chance the cat you’re interested in may have already been adopted by the time you visit the adoptions centre. Don’t despair! Our team will help match you with another feline friend.
If you’ve already got a full house or just aren’t in a position to adopt right now, you can still help find loving forever homes for our adult cats. Please spread the word on social media and among your family, friends and colleagues. Be sure to mention the joys of adopting a shelter cat, and the urgent need to find homes for these deserving felines.
