What you need to know
Are my donations tax deductible?
Yes. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible. The Lost Dogs’ Home is a registered Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), so you’ll receive a receipt you can use when lodging your tax return.
If you make a one-off donation through our website, you’ll get your receipt straight to your inbox.
If you’re a monthly donor, you’ll receive a confirmation email when you set up your gift, and then a consolidated tax receipt at the end of each financial year, showing all the donations you’ve made.
How do I make a monthly donation?
It’s easy to become a monthly donor and make a lasting difference for lost and abandoned cats and dogs.
Simply select the monthly option in our donation form and choose the amount you’d like to give. You can set up your first donation using your credit or debit card, or via direct debit using your bank details. You’ll receive a confirmation email when you sign up, and we’ll debit your gift on or around the 15th of each month.
If you ever need to update, pause, or cancel your monthly donations, please contact our friendly Supporter Care team supporters@dogshome.com or (03) 8379 4453. We’ll take care of everything for you.

Can I make a donation over the phone or via BPAY?
Yes, absolutely. Our friendly Supporter Care team would love to help you.
To donate over the phone, please call (03) 8379 4453 or email supporters@dogshome.com and we’ll assist you as soon as we can.
If you’d like to give via BPAY, please just get in touch. We’ll provide your unique reference number and the details you’ll need to make your donation safely and securely.
Do you receive government support?
The Lost Dogs’ Home doesn’t receive any ongoing government funding. We rely on the kindness and generosity of animal lovers like you to help care for thousands of lost and abandoned cats and dogs every year.

How do I cancel, change or update my monthly donation?
We completely understand that things can change, and we’re here to help.
Whether you’d like to update your details, change your donation amount, or pause or cancel your monthly gift, just contact our Supporter Care team at supporters@dogshome.com or (03) 8379 4453.
We’ll take care of everything for you quickly and easily.
Will I receive a donation receipt?
Yes — you’ll receive an email receipt right after making your donation. If you’re a monthly donor, we’ll also send you a summary at the end of the financial year.
Can I make a donation via cheque?
Yes, we’ll continue accepting cheques for as long as possible, ahead of the government’s planned 2028 phase-out.
