A little bit about Barney Gumble

Meet the sweet & gentle Barney Gumble!

Barney is patiently waiting here at our North Melbourne shelter, for his new family to come and choose him. We would love for Barney to find his new home as soon as possible, as he is quite nervous here in the shelter.


Barney is quite unsure about meeting unfamiliar people, so his new home will need to consist of secondary school aged children or older, who will allow him the necessary time needed for him to warm up & feel safe. Once Barney gets to know you, he is a super sweet and friendly boy.

Barney doesn't mind the company of other dogs, so pending a successful meet & greet at our shelter, Barney may be suitable to live in another home with a doggy friend. All introductions to new dog friends must be slow and gradual, to not overwhelm Barney, as he is a bit of a nervous bean.

Barney hasn't quite got the hang of walking on lead yet, so we recommend his new family provide him with consistent, positive-reinforcement lead training, to build his confidence!

This boy is an extreme sweetheart once he warms up and gets to know you & we have no doubt that he will be a very loyal companion, to a very lucky family.
