Introducing our sweet senior man, Gerry!
This lovely boy is looking for a wonderful retirement home where he can spend the rest of his days being pampered and loved.
Gerry has had a very stressful few weeks, coming into the shelter as a stray and unfortunately not being taken back home by his previous owners. The staff here at the shelter adore Gerry and hope that he won't be overlooked just because of his age.
Gerry is searching for a peaceful and quiet home with owners who move at his pace and won't overwhelm him. For this reason, he would be best suited to a home with secondary school-aged children and older who can respect his space. Gerry has also shown that he finds meeting unfamiliar dogs quite stressful and scary, and would prefer a new home where he is the only dog in the family.
At almost 10 years old, Gerry does have some age-related health problems that are likely to progress over time and he needs new owners who can look after him and are prepared to take him to vet checkups when needed. Our wonderful vet team here at the shelter will be able to properly discuss the requirements and advise the support that will be provided post-adoption to help Gerry's new parents manage any health concerns.
Gerry is such a calm and nice boy who is desperate to get out of the shelter and into his new forever home. Taking home a senior dog may have its challenges but it is so incredibly rewarding to provide love and safety to a dog who has been overlooked by everyone else.
If you would like to meet Gerry, please come down to the shelter for a meet and greet today!
