Identify lost pet instruction

Your next steps:

number-1-dot-pointCall the Home

  • If you think this animal may be your pet, contact the Home on (03) 9329 2755 and quote the animal’s ID number.

number-2-dot-pointMake a list of identifying features

  • To get started, we will want to know where and when your pet went missing, any distinguishing marks and whether they are desexed or not. This will help us to quickly identify whether this is likely to be your pet.

number-3-dot-pointGather supporting documents

  • To further assist us in identifying your pet, please have on hand the following documents (if available):
    • Registration documents
    • Microchip details
    • Breed papers (if any)
    • Veterinary history
    • Your identification
    • Any other documents supporting your ownership.

Once we are all satisfied that this animal is your pet, you will need to bring these documents with you when you come to reclaim them.

Be prepared to pay the required council fees and charges. If your pet is not registered, you will also be required to register your pet.

Certain councils have laws that require animals to be desexed. Under these laws you may be required to desex your pet in order to register them with Council.

We understand that losing a loved pet is very distressing. We aim to make your reunion as quick and straightforward as possible, while ensuring our obligations to Council and the law are met.
