Pets are vitally important members of our family. But what will happen to your beloved pets after you’re no longer around to care for them yourself?
We know that this is a question that concerns many pet owners. Please take some time to make plans to ensure that the special dogs or cats in your life are going to be loved and well cared for after you’re gone.
No one knows your pets quite like you do. Which is exactly why we think it’s a really good idea to let those closest to you know in advance about what you would like to happen to the special animals in your life, should something ever happen to you.
Including clear, practical instructions in your Will for who you’d like to care for your pets provides you with the peace of mind that they will be well looked after when you’re no longer able to care for them yourself.
Expressing your wishes and documenting a clear, helpful plan for how your pets should be cared for can also be extremely helpful for your family, friends and the Executor of your estate.
We strongly recommend talking to your solicitor and executor to ensure that they understand your wishes and are clear about the arrangements you want to put in place in your Will for the future care of your beloved pets.
We get asked quite regularly by animal lovers about what they need to think about when leaving instructions for the care of their pets in their Wills. So, we’ve created a handy, easy-to-read guide to help you think through some of the practical things that you’ll need to consider when selecting the right person to care for your pets.
The guide also contains a couple of template forms for you to complete, alongside some helpful hints and tips to make sure your pet is well-cared for and taken care of in an emergency.
