Meet the sweet and sensitive Mija!
While most Maremma dogs enjoy spending their time out on the farm guarding the livestock, Mija likes to dance to the beat of her own drum.
Mija has been raised and socialised as a pet, rather than a livestock guardian, and all she wants to do is be inside and be a part of the family (she's even scared of cows).
She would benefit greatly from regular exercise and would still love a yard to run around in for lots of enrichment and playtime with her humans, as well as some long evening walks. As a working breed she is still a very intelligent dog so enrichment toys such as puzzle feeders and kongs will be great for tiring out her mind as well as her body.
She's also still a baby and hasn't had much training so still displays some puppy-like behaviours. She would benefit from a regular training routine that will also allow her to use her brain while learning some cool new tricks and skills that she can show off.
Mija has a sweet and gentle soul and enjoys the quiet life where she can have as much time as she needs to settle in and get used to new people and places, so would prefer a home with no young children.
Mija is what we like to refer to as a Library Dog, she doesn't mind having another dog around but she likes her own space so would prefer another gentle dog who is happy share space while they do their own thing.
This sweet girl is looking forward to finding her furrever family and spending her days curled up on the couch receiving lots of pets, attention, and treats (she's a big sucker for salami on special occasions). She also loves to be brushed!
If you're looking for a happy-go-lucky companion with a heart of gold, Mija is the girl for you.
