Our practices are governed by the Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning’s Code of Practice for the Operation of Shelters and Pounds.
We welcome the department’s minister Jaala Pulford MP‘s call for a fair and impartial review on our compliance under the Code of Practice.
We were, as recently as under six months ago, audited by the City of Melbourne as part of their regulatory responsibilities under the Code of Practice and were found to exceedingly fulfil our obligations with no non-conformities.
We are confident that we continue to abide by the Code of Practice and are open to any review that will better our processes and procedures for the benefit of our shelter animals and staff.
We have not yet received notification of the intent to review however we hope this will help subdue unsubstantiated judgement on the Home’s staff and supporters as we continue to tend to lost and abandoned animals in our care.
