“Winter is a time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.” – Dame Edith Sitwell
This winter Maxi the Pom cross will have everything Dame Sitwell wrote about.
Last winter it was a different story.
He arrived at the Home shaking with cold and terror. His coat was sodden and muddy. He’d hide in his nest of blankets in his pen, venturing out only for food or once he trusted the person caring for him.
Sadly, Maxi’s not alone.
This winter we’ll care for around 4,190 cats and dogs. Some will need specialised veterinary or behavioural care before they can be rehomed. Some will need the love and attention of a foster home. All will deserve the highest level of care we can provide. You can help.
You can bring Winter Comfort to cats and dogs like Maxi by making a tax deductible gift today.

  • $25 will help our dog trainer work with timid or untrained dogs, giving them confidence and good doggy manners before they are adopted
  • $100 will cover the cost of desexing a dog or cat prior to adoption (around 80% of dogs and 95% of cats admitted to the Home arenít desexed)
  • $250 will keep an animal ambulance on the road for a night, rescuing lost or abandoned dogs and cats

Winter is a very challenging time at the Home. Your donation will bring comfort to dogs and cats at a time when they need it most. Make a tax deductible gift now.
