Statement on pet food panic buying

March 18, 2020

The Lost Dogs’ Home wants to express its significant concern around the recent reports of panic buying of pet food and other pet supplies across Victoria.

We’ve been made aware and have seen firsthand evidence of pet food and items such as kitty litter being swept off the shelf in panic buying behaviours.

We implore the community to maintain common sense and fairness.

Please don’t stockpile food and supplies for pets, just buy what you need for a week or two and ensure everybody gets the chance to buy what they need for their furry family members.

We know from our 110 years’ experience of rehoming and reuniting lost and abandoned animals that pet lovers care for all animals, not just their own family pets.
