INFO: Renting with pets

February 10, 2016

In recent years the landscape of rental accommodation in Australia has changed dramatically. More of us are opting away from houses with huge backyards in favour of medium to high density living closer to the city. Others are pushed into tight rental markets as a result of ever increasing house prices.

For pet owners today’s rental market to be especially challenging.

Despite being nation of animal lovers with one of the highest pet ownership rates in the world, many pet owners struggle to find rentals which suit them and their pets.

The quest to find a pet friendly rental can seem daunting. However, this doesn’t have to be the case. If you want to secure a rental for you and your pet, it’s important for you to see your pet through your landlord’s eyes. With some careful planning and preparation, you can find the right property for you and your furry companion.

Earlier this month Alexandra Thomas, Rental Department Manager with Edward Thomas Real Estate in Kensington, gave us her tips to help renting pet owners find a pet friendly rental property.

We would like to thank Edward Thomas for their continued support of The Lost Dogs’ Home. If you are looking for property in the Kensington or North Melbourne area you can contact Edward Thomas Real Estate on (03) 9376 3322 or view their website at edwardthomas.com.au
