We are now calling out to all animal lovers interested in becoming a foster carer or volunteer with the Home’s Campaspe shelter to come along to our Foster and Volunteer Information Session on Thursday July 9.
Held at the Shire of Campaspe Function Room, the session will provide potential volunteers and foster carers with the information they need to become a volunteer with the Home. There will also be opportunities on the night for anyone interested in volunteering to register their interest with our Volunteer Coordinator and Foster Care Coordinator.
According to Campaspe Shelter Manager, Kate, the Home is excited to be officially offering its foster care and volunteer programs to the Campaspe Shelter.
“Our North Melbourne volunteer and foster care program has been running for more than 20 years with great success, so we are very pleased to see the program being formally rolled out at our Campaspe shelter,” said Kate.
We are encouraging anyone who is willing to take some time out of their busy week to help us with a range of activities essential for the day to day running of the shelter, or who is willing to open up their home for two to four weeks to give a cat or dog some much needed time out from the shelter environment, to come along to the session.
“The shelter has a number of volunteer roles available, so if dog walking isn’t up your alley, don’t feel like you can’t volunteer with us, there are plenty of other areas where you can help, such as our enrichment program, cat grooming and play time, just to name a few,” said Kate.
The Home is also asking for anyone who helped us at local events, such as the Campaspe Dog Walk, and residents living outside Campaspe Shire to also come along to the event.
“Our volunteer and foster care program is open to all residents inside and outside Campaspe Shire.
“For those living further away from the Home, there are a number of volunteer activities which can be undertaken at home and our foster care program actually requires our cats and dogs to spend some time in your home, so there isn’t always a need for you to come down to the shelter to volunteer.
“If you are interested in volunteering or becoming a foster carer with the Home, please come along to the session to find out more and to register your interest,” said Kate.
