Half priced cat adoption promotion ends this week

Head on down to The Lost Dogs’ Home before the end of January to make the most of the half price adoption promotion!

The Home’s North Melbourne and Campaspe shelters have seen the dreams of many of its residents realised with half price adoptions attracting many potential owners over the last few weeks.

“It has been really encouraging to see this promotion take off and to see many of our cats and dogs find new and loving homes,” said shelter manager Sue Conroy.

While the Home’s canine companions have been a real hit, their feline friends haven’t been as popular as they would have liked, “We were able to adopt out a great number of cats and kittens this weekend however, we still have quite a few waiting to be adopted into new and loving homes,” said cat shelter manager Karina Bailey.

“I urge those of you who have considered adopting a cat for some time now to come along and meet our wonderful cats and kittens who are waiting to show off their personalities. Our newly renovated cat adoptions centre has plenty of room where you can spend time getting to know our many cats and dogs in order to find that perfect match for you,” she added.

With many people returning to work next month and their children starting the new school year, Ms Conroy suggested they use the remainder of their holiday to settle their new pet into their home and lives, “There are so many benefits in adopting during the holidays. You not only get to have valuable time with your new family member, but so do your children enabling your pet to have a better and lasting transition into their new home,” she said.

All adopted pets come with a full health check-up, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped.

Adoption costs differ from shelter to shelter; however as a guide, the discount will take the price of adopting a dog or puppy from the North Melbourne shelter down to $150, an adult cat to $47.50 and a kitten $85.
