Give a Dog a Home

For over 15 years, Melbourne’s most-loved weatherman and our dear friend Mike Larkan has presented Friday’s weather report with a special friend by his side – a shelter dog in need of a loving home.

Give a Dog a Home (GADAH) has become an iconic part of Melbourne’s Friday news bulletin. We’re sad to let you know that Friday 11 September  marked the end of an era, with GADAH running for the final time as Mike finished up at Network Ten after 25 years of dedicated service.

Through GADAH, Mike has helped several hundreds of dogs (and cats) find loving forever homes, and inspired families across Melbourne to adopt and change the life of a deserving shelter pet. GADAH was especially helpful in giving extra exposure to dogs who weren’t always a popular choice with adopters, such as senior citizens and larger breeds.

Like all Melburnians, we’re going to miss Mike’s outstanding weather reports, charismatic nature and classic dad jokes. But most of all, we’ll miss seeing him on TV with one of our furry friends, who would always become the next in line to be adopted, thanks to their appearance on the news.

From all of us at The Lost Dogs’ Home, we thank Mike and Network Ten for 15 wonderful years of dedication and passion helping the animals who needed it most.
