Adopted & Adored: Oscar’s Choice

September 21, 2014

More often than not, when potential adopters visit the Home with their hearts set on a particular dog, it is another they end up falling in love with. Some call it fate and others see it as just plain good luck, but we know that in many instances it is the dog that picks their owner.

They have an uncanny knack of connecting with the right heart for them. Sometimes it takes a paw to the knee, a friendly nuzzle and lick to the back of your hand or a cock of the head as they look deep into your soul. However they do it, the make sure you see them, really see them – the perfect, loyal and loving companion for you.

That’s exactly what “Oscar” did when he first met his new owners at the Home. They recently contacted us to tell us about that instant, special bond.

“This is Oscar. We adopted him as ‘Dino’ on the 23rd of May this year, and renamed him on the drive home.

10695425_933202296695444_1852422725_nWe initially picked another dog but instantly fell in love with Oscar when we first saw him and not a single day goes by where we don’t marvel at his intelligence and his hilarious little quirks.

My boyfriend and I cannot imagine life without our baby; he is our family and always will be. We truly appreciate how lucky we were that Oscar quickly came out of his shell and adjusted to his new home and family, and we wouldn’t trade him for the world.

Now at 1 year and 9 months, Oscar loves to go to the dog park and meet lots of friends, he loves walks with mum and dad and chasing a ball or his rope, and cuddles with mum and dad.

He has extremely ticklish back feet, and is a very high jumper and fast runner. Here are a few photos of Oscar with his new family. Hope you enjoy this.”
