Secondary students - Year 10
The Lost Dogs’ Home offer a work experience program to allow Year 10 students (aged 15 years and over) the opportunity to learn about animal care and responsible pet ownership while working in a shelter environment. Students must book a full work experience week, from Monday 8:30am - 4pm and Tuesday - Friday 8am – 4pm. Please read our Work Experience Fact Sheet for more information on the program.
To apply for a work experience placement for 2012, please use the Work Experience Application Form. Application forms can be filled in electronically, however when submitting, please ensure you mail us a printed copy which has an original signature on the required sections. Information regarding the application process can be found on the form. Please check our Google Calendar to ensure the dates you require are available before applying.

Tertiary students (veterinary science, veterinary nursing and animal studies)
Due to high demand, we are only able to offer limited work experience placements to tertiary students within our veterinary clinic. If you are interested in completing your tertiary work experience at The Lost Dogs’ Home, please contact our veterinary clinic reception on 03 9329 2755 to check whether the dates you require are available. Generally, we don’t take on volunteers within our veterinary clinic as this work is taken care of by students completing their placements.
The Lost Dogs’ Home are unable to offer work experience for students who need to complete a certain number of hours in a set time period for tertiary course requirements. If you are taking an animal studies qualification and would like to gain experience working hands on with the animals, you are welcome to apply as a regular dog walking volunteer and attend on a weekly basis. You should check with your course coordinator prior to applying that our dog walking program will meet the requirements for your work experience hours.
If you have any questions on work experience, please contact Elena Calodoucas (Volunteer and Work Experience Coordinator) on elena [dot] calodoucas
dogshome [dot] com or 03 9321 8786.
