An exciting new phase
We are ready to take the next step and enter a new era of growth and achievement for The Lost Dogs’ Home.
Today, the Home is looking forward to one of our most exciting phases yet – a major capital works project to expand our capacity to look after more dogs and cats and, most importantly, provide an even better level of care for the most vulnerable of dogs and cats in our community
It has become increasingly obvious that we must expand and upgrade as a matter of urgency in order to accommodate the rising numbers of animals who need us.
The Stan and Helen Moore Sick and Injured Facility
Animals that are sick and/or injured require more specialised and attentive care, something which we believe can be better achieved in a building dedicated to their wellbeing. The Stan and Helen Moore Sick and Injured Facility will have completely indoor accommodation – the first time that the Home has been able to provide this. The new building will offer improved conditions for animals recovering from surgery, illness or injuries, as they’ll have a climate controlled facility. They’ll also be able to be closely monitored and assisted as the section will have some veterinary facilities built within it.
The Frank Samways Veterinary Clinic
Every year the Home’s Veterinary Clinic helps care for thousands of unowned dogs and cats, helping to give them a second chance at life through the adoption program. The clinic also provides brilliant services for a loyal, private client base. However, we have now out grown our current, modest building and desperately need to upgrade facilities to continue to provide quality veterinary care to animals. We will be building The Frank Samways Veterinary Clinic so we can expand our veterinary services.
The Thelma Hoult Education and Training Centre
The Home’s mission is to reduce the incident of lost and abandoned dogs and cats. We believe one of the ways to achieve this is to educate the community on what it means to be a responsible pet owner. The new Thelma Hoult Education and Training Centre will allow us to host large groups of people for presentations on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare issues.
Stray Cat and Cat Adoption Facility
The Home has recently leased a building adjoining the Home’s premises to build a new cattery. This will be the first time we will have a purpose built cat facility, it will be a quieter and larger space than our existing arrangements for them. The new cat facility will have state of the art ventilation systems which will help minimise the spread of infectious diseases such as cat flu.
If you would like to make a donation toward any of these wonderful and much needed new facilities, please do so by going to our donation form. You will be making a real and positive difference to the lives of cats and dogs now and in the future.
