If your pet wears an ID tag, free from the National Pet Register (http://www.petregister.com.au) the finder can call the number on the tag, quote the unique number and be given your phone number to contact you so you can collect your missing pet.
But what if it hasn’t got a tag? Your pet will then be scanned for a microchip. Microchip scanning allows authorised implanters to see whether your pet is microchipped. A pet microchip contains a link to your contact information. With a pet microchip, as long as your details are up to date, you can be contacted and reunited with your missing family member.
To find out more about pet microchips, or to make an appointment to get your pet is microchipped, click here (http://dogshome.com/services) or call (03) 9329 2755. When your pet is ismicrochipped you’ll also be given a free ID collar to give your pet the best chance of finding you should you ever become separated.
