Old girls just wanna have fun too

As Hollywood farewells one of its greatest old gals, Elizabeth Taylor, we at The Lost Cats’ Home thought what better timing than to celebrate our own lovely older ladies! Far from going wrinkled and grey as us humans have to endure, most cats retain their beauty, charm and elegance right throughout their teens and even into their 20s!

They have little interest outside a warm place to stretch out, regular cuddles and a bowl full of delicious treats, so they are ideal for someone who works full-time and isn’t able to supervise a rambunctious young kitten. And as most come already litter trained, there is no messy training involved and their personality is well-known from the beginning.

But don’t take our word for it. We’ll hand it over to lovely ladies below to convince you that adopting an older girl is the right choice for you!

Patches

Age – 6 years

Location – North Melbourne

Animal ID – 713939

Patches is such a sweet and affectionate older lass. A great lover of cuddles, Patches’ adorable meow will instantly draw you in and make you want to scoop the big Torti right off her feet… exactly her intention in the first place! Patches would be well-suited to family with children, as she is very happy to be held and always plays nicely with her paws, not her claws. Due to her pink nose, which carries a high risk of skin cancer, Patches will need to be kept as an indoor cat. But never fear – this little lady is litter trained and impeccably mannered! If you’re looking to adopt a smoochy feline who will fit in seamlessly within your home, Patches is the girl for you!

Cleo

Age – 8 years

Location – Wingecarribee

Animal ID – 879928

Sweet Cleo is such a gorgeous lady who seems to have had a bit of a rough time during her eight years. She arrived at the Wingecarribee shelter quite a nervous girl, but during the past few weeks her confidence and personality has truly blossomed. Cleo has a shortened, crooked tail which is evidence of some kind of injury during her life. It causes her no pain or discomfort, and simply gives her a unique, quirky look! Cleo is your typical smoochy yet independent Torti who would make an ideal companion for an older person who will spoil her rotten. Cleo wouldn’t be suitable for a household with children or other cats.

Poody

Age – 5 years

Location – Campaspe

Animal ID – 880743

If this were an old folk’s home, Poody would be the eccentric granny with blue hair and an AC/DC shirt on. At five years old, she has not yet forgotten her kittenhood and is absolutely full of beans! Poody loves nothing more than playing detective and investigating every square inch of a room. She loves to be the centre of attention, and will entertain for hours. Poody will make a great companion for a family with older children, who are looking for an outgoing furry family member to join the clan.

All of our ladies are microchipped, desexed, vaccinated and have had a recent health check. If you are interested in adopting any of them, please make a note of their Animal ID number, call the specified shelter and register your interest.
