The Lost Dogs’ Home receives up to 40 stray and abandoned dogs into its shelters every day. Being in a strange new environment can be stressful for dogs, so while they wait for their owners to claim them or for a new owner to adopt them we want to make them as comfortable as possible during their stay.. Sue Conroy, General Manager of The Lost Dogs’ Home has been researching suitable replacement beds for the dog pens, the requirements being something durable, easily cleaned, and also more comfortable and snug.
‘Kuranda’ beds, designed specifically for shelters and boarding kennels, have been trialled at the Home’s North Melbourne shelter. Designed to provide a soft place for dogs to rest, Kuranda beds are easy to clean, economical, have replaceable parts and are built to last for years. Of course they are also chew proof! Shelter staff have given the beds the thumbs up, and we’re convinced that the many dogs who were part of the trial appreciated them too! To help us begin to replace our current dog beds with new Kuranda beds, ‘Kennel Solutions’ have invited The Lost Dogs’ Home to take part in their ‘Donate a Bed’ program. If you would like to help the Home provide more comfort to a lost or abandoned dog, you simply need to visit Kennel Solution’s . We would really appreciate your support and we will keep you updated on how the new Kuranda beds are benefiting the dogs in our care. Donations of blankets and bedding to the Home will still be needed and very much appreciated and will be used in conjunction with new Kuranda beds to provide an even more cosy, soft and comfortable bed.
