Wilbur and Tinks are just like any other five-week-old kittens; they like to wrestle, climb their scratchy pole and take long snoozes together. There is just one thing that sets them apart. On November 15 they were found in a sealed delivery box after being couriered across the city, without food or water. Their story was made state news and The Lost Dogs’ Home received an outpouring of support as result.
Vets at the Home have monitored the tiny tots for the past week, making sure they were gaining weight and displaying normal kitten behaviour. Already Wilbur, the little ginger, has put on an impressive 140g and Tinks the tabby has gained 91g. Staff are satisfied the kittens are happy and healthy and they will be put into foster care next week until the reach the required age to go up for adoption.
“We’re so happy with how much progress these little guys have made,” The Lost Cats’ Home Manager Karina Bailey said. “They seem just like any other happy little kitten… you would never know they had such a bad start to life.”
Foster Coordinator Amanda Huggins said Wilbur and Tinks will be going into their foster home next Monday, where they will remain for the next three weeks. In the meantime, their foster carer will be providing us with updates on our miraculous mail kittens, so stay tuned!
