Help us prepare for the Christmas influx

Traditionally a time for family celebrations, Christmas and New Year for dogs and cats can be anything but. The Lost Dogs' Home is already under strain as we prepare for an influx of unwanted and abandoned dogs and cats.

This year has already been one of the busiest in The Lost Dogs' Home’s 99 year history. There is an ever-growing demand for our services and a 40 percent increase in the number of cats and kittens admitted. This trend is set to continue over Christmas and into the New Year. We are expecting to take in over 6,162 dogs and cats.

The Lost Dogs' Home will never turn away a pet in need. Your gift today will help us to rescue, treat and care for every animal that needs us.

Although many people do love their pet and do the right thing by them, here at the Home we often only see the cast-offs. These innocent companions who, through no fault of their own, have been thoughtlessly dumped by uncaring owners.

Dogs just like Milo, who arrived at the Home in a very sad state. With years worth of coat growth, it was apparent to staff that he had not once been groomed or clipped. Due to the severity of his condition, staff did not know what breed of dog was buried beneath the tangled and matted coat.

After being bathed and clipped, Milo emerged as a Maltese mix. He was almost unrecognisable! In the days following his makeover, Milo’s true personality shone through: here was a bright, happy and friendly young dog who was everybody’s best friend.

Placed up for adoption, he was soon adopted by Liliana and her family, where he is given love, care and attention. This year, Milo will spend Christmas as part of the family.

Help make more happy endings like Milo possible by donating now.
