Don’t risk losing your pet over Easter

The Lost Dogs’ Home would like to wish everyone and their pets a happy and safe Easter and remind everyone to consider their pets as part of their Easter break plans.

If you are going away over the long weekend and taking your pets with you or leaving them behind and safely cared for, please make sure your contact information on your microchip register, council registration or National Pet Register is current and up to date. You cannot be reunited with your pet should they become lost if your contact details are incorrect.

Please contact the National Pet Register on 1300 734 738 or at infoatpetregister [dot] com [dot] au (subject: Email for the National Pet Register) if you require assistance updating contact information for your pet.

If you are leaving your pet behind please make sure they will be safe and secure with someone you trust or in a reputable boarding facility.

Easter eggs are an enjoyable part of Easter celebrations for many Australians however chocolate is toxic for dogs. Please take care to store or hide your Easter eggs out of reach of your dog and no matter how much they look at you, pleading for a taste, please don’t share your chocolate with them. Instead consider a special pet friendly treat such as a bone, pigs ear, or new toy!

The National Pet Register provides free collar ID tags for pets and reunites nationally over 200 dogs and cats through this important community service every week. To get your free National Pet Register tag go to www.petregister.com.au

The National Pet Register free ID tag service relies on the generosity of supporters, if you would like to make a donation to this valuable community service visit our donations page

We hope you have a happy Easter.
