It’s High School Again at The Lost Dogs’ Home

It’s understandable that at The Lost Dogs’ Home, kittens and puppies are usually out the door before we can even blink an eye. What’s not to love? Their wide eyes, oversized paws, tiny mews and dopey cuteness can be an irresistible combination for just about anyone.

But what about the slightly older pets, the ones that are still young at heart but no longer resemble the tiny tots in the next pen over?

The Lost Dogs’ Home has become something of a feline high school recently, with a large number of our cats aged 1-3 years taking residence with us. This is really an ideal age to adopt a cat, as they are young enough to be your pal for many years to come, but kittenhood is over, which means no mess, no training and the cat’s personality is well known by now.

So to celebrate the adolescence of these funny felines, we present to you The Lost Dogs’ Home’s Feline Yearbook!

The Rebel – Arlene

Arlene is your typical teenager - she is extremely affectionate when she wants to be but she doesn’t like to be hounded. It’s like, so uncool. As long as you allow Arlene to be the individual that she is, there is no reason why this gorgeous girl won’t make you a wonderful companion and fill your days with laughter and playfulness. However because she is a little more strong-willed, she wouldn’t be suitable around children and would prefer to be an only child. She is available for adoption now at the Campaspe shelter, so call (03) 5480 3005 and quote Animal ID: 874714 if you are interested in meeting the quirky Arlene!

The Popular Girl – Rosie

Rosie has it all – beauty, charm, intelligence and a lovely personality – but she doesn’t let it go to her head. She likes just about everyone and would make a wonderful companion, so long as you promise to give her fluffy coat a good brush to keep it shiny and soft – looks are very important to our Miss Rosie! Everyone who meets her falls under her charms and we double dare you to try not to! She is currently staying at the North Melbourne shelter, so call (03) 9329 2755 and quote Animal ID: 862274 if you want to take home the most popular girl in school.

The Rich Kid – Rags

Beautiful Rags just screams elegance, poise and luxury. With his big blue eyes, soft, fluffy coat and exotic features, this Blue Point Ragdoll Cross is a very rare find and would make anyone proud to have around the home. Rags can be a little bit wary around new people and will need an owner who will have enough patience and understanding to allow him to blossom into the gorgeous little man we know he is. If you think that is you, please call the Campaspe shelter on (03) 5480 3005 and quote Animal ID: 877184.

The Nerd – Beatrice

Just like in all the teen rom-coms, ‘the nerd’ in this story is really a gorgeous girl with a heart of gold! Beatrice is a very relaxed, affectionate and sweet girl who sometimes gets overlooked perhaps because she isn’t as outgoing as the rest of the cats. But don’t let that fool you. Beatrice just LOVES a good tummy rub and her sweet nature means she would be perfect for anyone, even an elderly couple or a family with young children. Due to her light colouration, she would be best suited as a purely indoor cat, so she doesn’t have the risk of catching skin cancer later in life. Beatrice is available for adoption from the Wingecarribee shelter, so call (02) 4868 1520 and quote Animal ID: 875587. Remember: Nerds Rule!

The Jock – Milo

Milo is one fine male specimen. Athletic, handsome and totally chilled out, this guy doesn’t let much bother him and usually gets what he wants anyway – who could resist those beautiful eyes? At two years old, Milo is full grown but is such a softie, he would be wonderful around young children and other animals. This affectionate boy loves nothing more than being cuddled and rubbing his nose against any pointy edge he can find, so if you think you can provide that for him call (03) 9329 2755 and quote Animal ID: 877037. He is available for adoption now from the North Melbourne shelter.

Please check our adoptions page for more information on these cats and more.
