As we get older, the thought of what will happen to our beloved pets should they outlive us can be a real cause for concern. At the same time, it is when we are in our twilight years that we can truly benefit from the companionship and joy of pets.
As we get older, the thought of what will happen to our beloved pets should they outlive us can be a real cause for concern. At the same time, it is when we are in our twilight years that we can truly benefit from the companionship and joy of pets. While The Lost Dogs’ Home’s first recommendation is to plan for a trusted relative or friend to take ownership of your pet, we do acknowledge that this alternative is not available to all pet owners.
Therefore the Home offers a solution to this concern which enables pet lovers to keep their animals by their side at home for as long as possible. Pet owners are able to make a provision in their Will to bequeath their dog or cat to The Lost Dogs’ Home where it will be cared for until it can be adopted into a suitable and loving home.
While the Home would be grateful for a gift in your Will, it is not a requirement. It is our belief that all pet owners should have the peace of mind that their pets will be lovingly cared for after their death.
If this service interests you, The Lost Dogs’ Home has developed some recommended wording to include in your Will. To discuss your plans, please contact our Bequest Officer via email at jane [dot] charman
dogshome [dot] com or phone (03) 9321 8744.
