With so many abandoned and unwanted cats coming into the Home on a daily basis, staff like nothing better than to see them find a loving, new home.
Local family, the McGranns were looking for a new pet and fell in love with Arthur, a cat for adoption at the Home.
Arthur had been rescued by one of the Home’s ambulances from the streets and was somewhat worse for wear. “We were told he was a ball of knots, burrs and filth when he was picked-up,” said Rosemary McGrann.
Once in the care of the Home Arthur’s long coat was cleaned up and he was given a good meal and a warm bed. He spent eight days at the Home waiting to be claimed by his owner however they never came to get him. Arthur was then placed up for adoption and that’s when the McGranns found this handsome cat on the website, fell in love with him on sight and were on their way to adopt him.
The family decided to adopt a cat due to their busier lifestyle as cats are generally more independent than dogs. “We’d always wanted a cat that looked like a Persian and when we saw Arthur, we had to have him. We don’t know what his exact breed is, but we don’t really care. He’s a really lovely cat,’ explained Noel, Rosemary’s husband.
Arthur’s adoption was timely as Noel and Rosemary’s eldest daughter left to travel Ireland, soon after his arrival. Arthur is very happy to be the focus of the McGrann’s attention and is more than willing to provide comfort sitting on laps and accepting lots of pats. “Arthur’s been pretty good. He’s very quiet, is actually kind of obedient and pretty clean most of the time. Although, some of the things he drags inside at times have been pretty horrific,” laughed son Ronan.
The McGranns could not be happier with Arthur and love him dearly. Arthur has definitely landed on all four paws.
Dogs and cats available for adoption can be viewed on our website and all are desexed, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and have had a health check. Dogs also come with a free Planet K9 training session.
