Update: Boots has been adopted

Update: Boots was adopted this morning.

Boots has endured months of cruelty. His previous owners - in a terribly misguided and harsh attempt to keep puppy Boots from barking and chewing - tightly bound his muzzle shut. Boots is now left with a scar around his muzzle; a slight, but permanent, disfigurement to his face.

Marvin's starvin' no more!

Since arriving at the Home weighing just 42 kilos, five year old Great Dane Starvin' Marvin has come a long way.

The gentle giant’s story and photo first appeared in the Herald Sun, which prompted many people - all shocked by his starved state - to call us and offer him a new home.

Cats at the Home are in need of your help

The Lost Dogs' Home is urgently calling for donations of canned cat food. Due to an unprecedented number of stray cat admissions and cat surrenders, the Home has run out of its annual supply of canned cat food. Cat food donated last Christmas by Victorian Woolworths shoppers is already gone. 2009 has seen a 40% increase in the number of cats and kittens in our care.

Kelli finds a loving new home

Kelli the Chihuahua, featured alongside ‘starvin’ Marvin’ in the Herald-Sun last week, has found a loving new home. Aptly renamed Angel, she is settling in exceptionally well with her new owner Terry and her family. The abandoned pint-sized pooch is relishing in her warm and cosy environment and is described as a ‘delight’ by smitten Terry.

Starved and then dumped: Marvin's story **WARNING: graphic images**

Far from cutting an imposing, majestic figure, Marvin the Great Dane’s bones protrude crudely from his skin. His skeletal frame seems barely able to support his massive head, yet this delightful, obedient and polite dog is on the journey back to full health and has already been guaranteed a new home.
