An update from Jodie, Buckley's foster carer

It has been a hectic fortnight for Buckley: the media and public interest in him, undergoing surgery, plus the regular visits to the vets at the Home for ongoing treatment and observation. He certainly sleeps well at night!

Lost Dogs - a photographic exhibition

Lost Dogs is a photographic documentary project exploring the plight of the dogs at The Lost Dogs' Home, the largest shelter in Australia, rescuing over 11,000 dogs each year. The series illustrates individual stories from among the large number of dogs that come into the shelter and focuses on the process that these dogs go through during their stay at The Lost Dogs' Home.

Buckley learns the ropes

Now in much better health and spirits, Buckley is starting puppy training with his foster carer.

With his nip-and-tuck surgery behind him and in much better health and spirits, Buckley, along with his foster carer Jodie, are now looking forward to the future, which includes gentle and basic puppy obedience training.

Buckley receives a special visit

Buckley was visited by Senior Constable Steve Taylor, of Flemington police earlier this week.

On Wednesday 22 July, a day after undergoing ‘canine cosmetic surgery’ to repair his hacked off ears and tail, as well as being desexed, Buckley was visited by Senior Constable Steve Taylor of Flemington police. The visit was kept short, taking place during Buckley's play time.

Adoption of Buckley - 3AW Rumour File

The information broadcast this morning, 23 July, on 3AW's 'Rumour File' regarding Chopper Read adopting puppy Buckley is totally incorrect.

"This information is not true, is offensive and makes a joke of a very serious situation," stated Managing Director of The Lost Dogs' Home, Dr Graeme Smith OAM.

Buckley’s new look

As Buckley turned nine weeks old, veterinary staff at The Lost Dogs' Home were planning delicate surgery to repair his damaged ears and tail.

Along with being desexed, senior vet Dr Alan Bolton wanted to tidy up Buckley’s hacked off ears, as well as what remained of his tail, to minimise the chance of infection and allow for healing.

Brave Buckley's Recovery

Buckley has just turned nine weeks old and, now in safe hands, is on the slow road to recovery. After being cruelly tortured just over a week ago, he is making reasonable progress, both emotionally and physically.

Man arrested over the attack on Buckley

A man has been arrested over the attack on Buckley, which left the eight week old pup with horrific injuries.

The Lost Dogs' Home staff has praised the swift action from Victoria Police and the overwhelming community support surrounding this shocking animal cruelty act.
