Norman: small dog with a big heart

Erin Waters adopted Japanese Chin Norman, from The Lost Dogs' Home back in 1998 when he was just three months old. Erin walked through the adoption area at the Home and noticed Norman in the corner of his pen looking depressed and lonely. He was recovering from his desexing operation and appeared to be very, very sad and in need of some love and attention.

Rusky: over 100-years-old but still mum's little boy!

Rusky can perform many tricks, but he's not ready to roll over just yet!
 
Rusky was adopted by Louise and Philip Bardy from The Lost Dogs' Home in 1991. In January 2009, the terrier cross reached the spectacular age of 18-years-old, which in human years is well over 100 and 126 if the adage of 1 human year equals 7 dog years applies!

Narla: back from the brink

 Narla, the three-year-old rottweiler was admitted to The Lost Dogs' Home Veterinary Clinic with hemorrhagic gastro enteritis, a potentially fatal condition affecting the stomach and bowel. Narla's symptoms appeared suddenly and her condition deteriorated very quickly with internal bleeding, severe nausea and diarrhea.

Mudzy: Mudzy breaks a leg

13-week-old Mudzy was the unfortunate victim of a building site accident when a heavy piece of wood fell on his hind leg fracturing it in several places. The border collie's injury required complicated orthopaedic surgery which was performed by veterinary surgeon Dr Alan Bolton.

Fritz: a tick of approval

Fritz arrived at The Lost Dogs' Home's facility in Cranbourne quietly and without any fuss. He had been found wandering by the Council's Animal Management worker before being taken to safety. Without any form of identification, staff were unable to contact his owner and hoped that they would come searching for him soon.

Minnie: from pound hound to top dog

On an ordinary day in late April, The Lost Dogs' Home Ambulance was called to attend to a stray dog in need of some help. Minnie had been found wandering the streets aimlessly. Ambulance drivers horrified by her emaciated state and the matted condition of her coat.

Brock: Brock finds a new home after leg injury

Brock, a male stray staffie cross came to The Lost Dogs' Home on 31 October 2007 with a broken hind leg. He was immediately given pain relief and closely cared for in the Hospital. Sadly, no one came to claim this good natured dog and so eight days later, he underwent surgery to repair his fracture to prepare him for adoption.

Barney: Barney beats cancer with help from the Clinic

Barney is 15-years-old and still just as keen about chasing sticks as he was when he was a pup. But he's no ordinary 15-year-old dog; Barney beat an aggressive bout of malignant cancer at age 13 and has since made a full recovery!
