Angel is looking for a new home

Handed in to the Lost Dogs’ Home as a stray, after the finder had noticed her wandering the streets for days, Angel was showing signs of acute abdominal pain and exhaustion.

During a thorough examination, vets discovered Angel was in fact in labour and had been having contractions for some time. It was established that she couldn’t deliver the pup naturally, so Angel received an emergency caesarean. Sadly the pup she was carrying had died some hours before she was brought in.

The Lost Dogs’ Home veterinary team believe Angel’s difficulty in whelping may have been due to the pup’s size. Her little frame simply could not cope.

Since being desexed, Angel has been recovering at the Lost Dogs’ Home. She is now fighting fit and looking for a new home.

She’s a delightful dog. Very sweet and her tail doesn’t stop wagging. She’s fully recovered from her caesarean however she does show some signs of luxating patellas. That is, her kneecaps have a tendency to slip out of the sockets. As long as she doesn’t become overweight this may never pose a problem.” says General Manager Sue Conroy.

Angel is available to adopt from our North Melbourne shelter, and is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and health checked. Like every dog adopted from the Lost Dogs’ Home, she also receives a free training session with Planet K9.
