Abandoned shelter cat Muffin wins the hearts of her new family

Just over twelve-months ago Jan and her family lost their beloved dog Jasper. It was the first time in their life that they had been without a pet. In Jan’s words it was “a very weird feeling”.

After some consideration Jan and her two girls decided for their busy family, a cat may be easier to care for and so they began researching the options available.

They first looked at some Ragdoll kittens but soon decided they were far too expensive, especially when they discovered there were so many lovely cats available at shelters.

I thought it would be nice to save a cat that needed a new home, and thought it would be a bonus if I found one about a year old, with a personality you could see straight away” said Jan

Jan and her family began looking at the cats available for adoption on The Lost Dogs’ Home website and came across Muffin.

We saw Muffin on a pink fluffy blanket and thought she was pretty cute” Jan explained.

While the girls were at school Jan went into meet Muffin at the Home’s Campaspe Animal Shelter in Echuca. She still remembers clearly the moment she met Muffin for the first time.

She gave me the biggest hug ever and she was even cuter in real life! I still remember her little white paws reaching out of the cage after she was put back in, she wanted to come home with me!”, said Jan.

After school Jan took her girls, Poppy and Maisy, into meet Muffin and it was a definite yes from them both!

Muffin has since settled into her new home very well. Poppy and Maisy love giving her lots of cuddles which she always happy to accept. They also play soccer with Muffin using ping pong balls and scrunched up foil.

Jan says “Muffin is having a lovely time with us and it feels like she’s always been here. We love her very much and we are glad we took the chance to adopt her”.

The staff at the Home’s Campaspe Shelter couldn’t be happier that Jan and her family gave Muffin such a wonderful home. They also appreciate the feedback and photos from Jan letting us know just how happy and loved Muffin is.
