The 12 Strays of Christmas

“On the twelfth day of Christmas
The Lost Dogs’ Home gave to me
A new home, a new life
And a brand new family!”

This is the tune we hope all our residents will be whistling by the end of December, thanks to our ’12 Strays of Christmas’ featured in today’s Herald Sun!

Each year, the Herald comes over to Gracie St in North Melbourne to photograph 12 of our dogs looking for homes (often embarrassing them by putting them in silly Santa hats and tinsel!) However this year, the ’12 Strays’ is different – two of the featured strays look distinctly feline…

“For the first time this year we are featuring two of our cats, Moo and Wyatt,” General Manager Sue Conroy said. “We want people to remember that we do have cats up for adoption and they are just as in need of a warm bed and loving family as the dogs.”

The features ties in nicely with Home’s special half-price adoptions offered during the month of December. Anyone interested in adopting one of our furry friends need to first complete the Pet Licence test, which prompts people into thinking about their responsibilities as a pet owner.

The Home will also be host to National Pet Register’s 12|12 national day of awareness for microchipping and updating contact details of pets.

“It’s going to be a big day at the Home today, so if someone grabs your eye, get in quick,” Sue advised.
